Artist Statement
Her
art is an exploration of her feelings.
Kristi
loves language. She considers the literal meaning
of words and applies her manipulation of their meanings.
In her work, Kristi
transforms seemingly simple objects into strangely
meaningful art objects.
Contrast
is important in her art. See the contrast in her
chosen medium - graphite - with values
ranging
from black to white. In
her work, you also see the contrast of symbols. Kristi
enjoys creating a new place for real objects; taking
known objects and, through a series of drawings,
exploring and pushing them beyond
their limits.
Atmosphere,
mood and humor are elements in her work. She stretches the boundaries
of realism. Through
simple association of objects
and places, Kristi creates new realms of thinking
and new ways of seeing.
